VT-ASQ Section 0112 is pleased to present:

David Satre-  CQE, CSSBB

“DOE Tips and Pitfalls”

With the need to establish more robust manufacturing processes in order to reduce variation and waste as required for Six Sigma and Lean initiatives, stronger more effective process characterization tools are becoming critical to a company’s success.  One powerful tool used is Statistical Design of Experiments or DOE’s.

Dave will share some of what he has learned over the past 15+ years involved in many process optimization and characterization applications using various DOE techniques.  The discussion will help to better understand how to maximize the benefit and minimize the mistakes typically made by inexperienced practitioners.  Dave’s tips and personal learning will help you strengthen your skills and knowledge.  Demos will be used to show relevant examples, and participants will be encouraged to share their questions and experiences in an interactive session.

About David Satre:  Dave is the Quality Engineering Manager at GW Plastics, a Vermont molding company which received the 2010 “Processor of the Year” designation by plastics news.  Dave specializes in validation activities regarding Medical Device components, from developing the validation master plan, validation protocols through the validation activities and transfer into production.  He has performed hundreds of DOE’s from simple fractional factorial experiments, to surface response methodologies and screening experiments, during which time Dave has encountered many experiences providing helpful tips and pitfalls which he has seen over the past 15+ years in the field.

Dave serves on the Vermont Section of ASQ where he has been past Certification & Recertification chair and is currently serving as section Treasurer.
